Re: A Visit With Alden Shoes

I own exactly one pair of American made shoes (boots are another story); brown suede Alden tassel loafers.  Though I came of age in the Ivy League clothing world of the 1950s-early 1960s, I have not worn that clothing in any significant way for decades.  But the Alden tassel loafer works in so many ways with so many different kinds of attire that I view it as must-have, and since brown suede is my most preferred shoe material that’s what I have.  I’d agree that a welted tassel loafer from EG or C&J, or probably others, is a finer looking, better finished shoe, but as long as I can still get the original, and the original was and is very good, I’ll stick with it.  I’d do the same with Bass Weejuns if they were still Bass Weejuns.  (The last pair of Weejuns, the real thing, that I had were stolen in a burglary in 1978, and I'm still mad.)

These unique cardigans caught my eye, perhaps reminiscent of old Hollywood...

Those do look great.  Are those leather buttons or ebony or what?  That medium grey looks sharp, as do the other colors.
