Those hated upper class customs

Recently there have been references in the Inane thread to a thread over in tradland about upper class male athletic clubs where members swim nude.  This has caused some commotion and a member has been suspended and the thread moved.  Our very own David has questioned what UC (upper class) trad ways would freak out the wannabes.

Aside from the men swimming together nude issue which seems to have been covered there and here, what upper class ways are deemed not acceptable by the moral middle class?  You thoughts please.

The British tradition of buggery.
Too many servants--may be seen as decadent by the Puritanical middle-classes.
Sexual deviancy.
Eccentricity in the best Sitwellian tradition.

I would imagine that the practice of marrying for money/position/advantage and finding emotional love elsewhere would rate pretty highly on the list of things offending middle-class sensibilities.

OK so I'm a blue collar kid who missed out on some stuff: What's "Sitwellian tradition".

Perhaps the greatest failure of the UCs in the eyes of the middles is the UCs' persistent failure to conform to the middles' image of them.  They often ain't too proper and genteel.  Hervey and Bismarck, whose obits we've recently read right here on FNB, are prime examples of this supposed crime.

Re: Those hated upper class customs

I think I mentioned on another thread that the real UC's politics & attitude to religion would also upset the AAAT Trads. They are not bible-bashing conservatives, they are actually very easy going. They simply don't care about all the things that AAAT cares about.

The UC are also rarely wistfully nostalgic for the past. Their lives are just great right now, thank you very much.

All the AAAT Trad pose does is to make the poser look even more hoplessly middle class than ever. All that stuff they go in for is dead common.
