Apart from that bit of fun - Mohair?
Do you?
Would you?

(Slim in another mood - http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=7yoGAtKc7wI - Can you do The Block?)
Dormy's big old sign hung up on their offices used to dominate Golden Square, London, W1. is it still there?

Any fans?
I have a DB suit out of their Tonik book(90/10- Mohair /wool)- there really isn't anything like it. If they didn't pull the book, I'd probably get another.
Some of their stuff is very nice, some looks cool but has a crappy hand. I don't dismiss Dormueil (or Scabal for that matter) out of hand like some of the people on the boards.

All I think of is that Motown-style song by the Ad-Libs, "Boy From New York City" with the lyric "and he's cute; in his mohair suit"
I believe the ol' (and current?) Brooks tuxedos, er, DJ's, are made from mohair.
Saw my tailor yesterday, and I've got one lined up out of the Cape Kid book. Kind of addictive, really.
In theory I like the cool 50s-60s image of mohair. In practice I think mohair is pretty ugly. That said, my tuxedo is mohair and I like it.
I prefer Moe Ginsberg.
Mohair suits look smart in summer but they are hard to wear. They have an unyielding quality to their fabric weave which makes them "pinch" the skin.
Depends on the Mohair really, the old Tonik Mohairs were 3ply and were very stiff and scratchy, the newer Mohair blends I've felt in various swatch books tend to be summer kid mixes, these to my touch don't feel anything like Tonik Mohair which is a much heavier, stiffer cloth. In fact I'm wearing a pair of Tonik Mohair Trousers at the mo, trying to wear them out, and the stuff is practically indestructable, and takes a crease like no suiting material I have ever owned, you could practically shave on the creases...a very "sharp" look and very Vegas to my mind...
Yachtie, I thought Dormieul had stopped making/offering Tonik, as the mill that used to make it (John Fosters, Black Dyke Mills, Queensbury, Bradford had stopped weaving) I remember seeing a more modern updated "version" called Tonik 2000 a few years ago, but this was a pale imitation of the original "beast" the nearest contempory equivelent I've seen is the Titan Mohairs in one of the Scabal books...
