So, PM capability, will we have?

The PM fuctionality is now working. There is a new option, Messages, next to Logout on the bar at the top. Alternately you can PM people directly from their posts via the option below their name.

If anyone sees any problems please email filmnoirbuff@gmail.com.

Outstanding. I'm really happy to have this new function.

Question: Will some indication appear next to one's login name when a new PM arrives?

An indicator appears under your name will tell you if you unread messages. It will come back if you clear those and then receive more messages. I might go into a corner and code something to tell you how many unread messages there are, but don't hold your breath smile

Re: PMing is now available to all logged in registered users

What are the rules re: offensive PMs?
I get a ton & they often make my day. So far I've held back from sending filthly, abusive and disgusting PMs back out myself...
You see I'd hate to get a bad name.
But if it is OK - Can I start sending them now?
Only if I take offence first, you understand.
I'd never cast the first stone...
I'd just love to chuck the last one.

Thanx.

The PM function is private so we don't read it hence we rely on members judgement. The only thing that would cause problems would be complaints about racism, religious abuse, gay bashing, that sort  of thing. Full and frank discussions are fine, if there are any problems people can always complain to Filmnoirbuff or myself.

Re: PMing is now available to all logged in registered users

Thanks for taking the trouble.
You do know that most Forums/MBs read their members PM's don't you (providing they think they might be juicey)?
I'm glad that doesn't happen here.
The criteria you mention don't really affect me. I am, however, a little sensitive about my I.Q. -
I'm not sure that you can legislate for that tho'...
Thanks again -
Miles.

Re: PMing is now available to all logged in registered users

Another disturbing PM this morning -

True or False: There is something called the 'Golden Thread' awards - The poster of the best thread of the week gets taken out for Sushi by FNB, later there are drinks and dancing with attractive women (optional).

This may just be Ted tormenting me under a phoney name, but the PM went on to describe in great detail all the fun that I would never be a party to.

Is any of this true?

Do you really all play a game over cocktails called 'Roast-a-Poster' where you put on odd affected voices and read out my collected works?

I ask merely for information.

M.

Re: PMing is now available to all logged in registered users

I like all these new rules (I'm English).
The next thing I'd like to see here is for us all to be encouraged to report each other to all the 24 moderators (all seeing but never seen) for clothcrime.
Doubleplus clothcrime will be the ultimate sin and will result in cyber-branding in which the clothcriminal will have all his posts prefaced by a derisive avatar. Probably of something rude fashioned out of twisted clothes hangers.
That'll learn 'em.

Bring back hanging.

Miles.

Beheading for the creation, or mere suggestion, of schlocky themed MB tchatchkes, such as hanger cufflinks or hangers themselves.

A collective spanking for boasting about your clothing "scores" at TJ Maxx and Marshalls, and how you left empty-handed from Syms.

A night with the Iron Maiden (no, not Malinda) for spelling "waist" as "waste"(sic).

15 demerits for having the temerity to write an encyclopedia no less on men's style based on your stint as a salesman at a local Polo store.

20 demerits for contacting offline members of the fashion message board community and proceeding to bad-mouth other members, and then trying to ingratiate yourself to those very members whom you have insulted behind their backs.

What's up with this whole demerit thing?  What is this, prep school or the military?

Re: PMing is now available to all logged in registered users

What is the etiquette for dealing with threats by PM?

I never quite know how to respond...
