I'm no "Trad" but I'd like to thank you, Gomie, for the idea of doing all this.
For taking the ill-informed fantasies of "Harris" (whoever he might be) and spinning them out into a forum with such devoted followers. And not just on the "Trad" forum is the construct so powerful - Over on Styleforum as we speak we have punters defending good old "Trad" as if it was real.
I do wish we could sell them a book or a T-shirt or something, when you find mugs like these who'll buy anything it's a crime aginst Capitalism not to pick their pockets a little...
Win/win as ever with us though, eh?
Even if I can't make "Trad" smart at least we've made it exist in the form it is today. The punters will just have to educate themselves.
You wanted to take the piss, which you certainly have, & I wanted to raise the profile of these clothes which I think I've done also. I do wish that the punters were sharper though... Still you can't have it all, eh?
Btw, I am a Yankee from Virginia too... "Trad" my sainted father used to call my Ben Silver clothes back in the 80's...
Best, as ever -
You both stole the style from me. But it's okay. More anon.
Horace "Skips" Adams
I Bow Down in GRATITUDE to ALL who have brought me knowledge of the Trad.
Praise the Trad.
Holy is the Trad.
Sacrosanct is the Trad.
My dear and distinguished Sirs,
I must woefully confess to not being very informed about the Trad lifestyle, but, I have known some personages who are themselves Trad, and, given this opportunity, wish to humbly offer my gratitude for the benefactors of this particular style - though I am not myself an adherent.
I remain, good Sirs,
Your most obedient servant,
Theodore Ebeneezer Alphonsus St Bonar, Esquire.
= And I'd have gotten away with it too if it hadn't been for you meddlin' kids.
