I saw the ad in the NYTimes a month or more ago. Made in Maine. well that means something to me. They have to be long wearing, unlike the Bass creations of the 1990s. who knows. But I do have some nostalgia for the  shoe industry of Maine. Wiped out only 10-15 years ago by cheap lesser quality imports. LL Bean was an obvious offender. Sebago, Bass, Cole Hann, Johnston and Murphy in Mass. a couple of others. I have the sneaking suspicion that the recent financial crisis may give a rebirth to American industry. We can only hope.
