Walking around Central Park and up Madison Ave. on a crisp Fall day.

Much of yesterday was spent upstairs here:

My limp is lessening.

Re: All dressed up and somewhere to go?

Didn't know whether to post this at The London Lounge or here, you decide:

Last night an inter-departmental work nosh at a place whose culinary claim to fame is their 4 lb schnitzels.
I was not underdressed in brown driving mocs, red socks, faded 90s jeans with superfluous seams in all kinds of places, brown belt with moccasin stitching, grey marl t-shirt sporting a slogan about why my particular suburb is such a great place to live (translated, the name of my part of town is the railwayesque 'Points', should conjure up the right picture), brown/cream/red Fila Settanta Matchday track-top (a colleague: 'Bet you've had that jacket for a long time').
Good fun notwithstanding, and plenty opportunity for earthy humour...I'd better leave that to your imagination.
The 4 lb schnitzel guys capitulated fast, but the quiet skinny guy next to me was the one to watch: 2 lb gulash with boiled potatoes, a side order of chips, various bits of schnitzel from other people's plates and a gigantic piece of gateau.
Me? I ordered the vegetarian alternative.

Re: All dressed up and somewhere to go?

According to Sator's Vienna report, I wrote down some thoughts about the city attire.

Most of the pictures were taken around the first district, the Viennese heartland of sartorial excellence. Lots of law firms, private banking and the affiliated tax consultants. The target clientele of bespoke firms. What can be said about a charcoal three piece. Not that much.

The watering holes along Graben, Kohlmarkt, Bognergasse or the innumerable Kaffehäuser are frequented during the daytime by independent gentleman, bohemians, successors and people with an easy lifestyle. The latter are sporting a more casual wear, but you can bet that the shirts are from the shirtmaker, who serves the family since decades or at least centuries.

What might be different is the foot gear. Why wearing english shoes, when you have a tradition on your own? The blucher/derby in all variations is the number one choice, for them in the know.

On a random note, you find loafers, ankle boots from the usual suspects worn by the usual suspects, pretending their usual routine - Bussi, Bussi - in the watering holes i.e Schwarzes Kameel(best sandwiches in town). Still a lot of bespoke clothes around there, too.

Re: All dressed up and somewhere to go?

Suits are only worn when l need them (certainly not everyday). Usually worn when l have to meet and convince someone important. l also wear them when i'm going out somewhere nice in the evening.

When i'm not meeting anyone l just wear a sportscoat, pants, open necked shirt and nice shoos most days.

Weekends can be anything, but always nice dress shoos (my signiture).

lf l go to Hermes' , Bulgari, Harrolds or Ferragamo l always wear a very good suit with all the accessories, especially at Hermes' and Bulgari.

The locale that best accompanies my overall look - The Spring House on Block Island, in mid-October.
