I prefer walking around in lighter shoos, hence my blake (or whatever) get banged up. Goodyear is a bit over-rated I think, although they will last longer. Maybe over-rated isn't the best word, maybe over-hyped is better. This topic is worthy of a big long discussion, since it's one of the cherised iGent axioms.
good `goodyear' is NEVER overhyped Tony. The Santoni FAM `goodyear' is extroadinary.
Santoni FAM goodyear, Trickers and Church's are real shoos. AE, C&J, Grenson are NOT....AE are sneakers done in leather....so are R.M.Williams). Fritz has real shoos.
Regards: Shooman.

I had a pair of Italian Blake stitched shoes- they blew apart in about a year or so. Not again- my sloppy gait is too hard on shoes for those types to survive.

Sator, maybe you could help me with some John Lobb sizing. My feet aren't as narrow as yours, but maybe you could help wiff length. Expect some P.M's boy. l'd still rather those shoos by Fritzl...those look killer.

13 pairs of C&J????
Don't do it, mate! Please. You will regret it later.
C&Js are barely much better in quality than AEs but for a ridiculous amount more. If you are going to pay money for shoes, it's definitely worth it getting the best. The finest shoes improve with age. C&Js don't really improve that much, although they hold up well - like AEs and RMWs. Vass improve with time, as do JM Westons, EGs and JLPs. Straight out of the box a C&J might seem to be on par with the real high end stuff but time reveals what they are really made out of.
Never been able to find the nice E.G or Lobbs on ebay EVER! lt annoys me.
