The CBS Sunday morning show did a feature on Hats today. They extolled the virtues of the short Fedora, the Pork pie and though there was no mention, they sure showed off a lot of summer Panamas. And there was a brief celebration of the J&J Hat shop in NYC. Could have done Worth and Worth. Could have done Delmonico's in New Haven. Are there other Hat stores out there?
The take was that the hat is a fashion forward item. you need to be ahead of the curve. Unlike me, you need to wear the short Fedora, though you might scrape by in a porkpie. rather than the stylish long brimmed fedora hat from the 40s that I (And a lot of 40s actors) favor. The Homborg was identified as the Banker's hat.

The "stingy brim" is popular among the younger set. They're going for a "Sinatra" look. If you have a broad face and need a wider brim you're SOL on the fashion front. It's nice to see that they're making a comeback- hope it sticks.
