Yes, well erm....let me revise that and say that Billax still carries that look off as well as when he was 18

I'm sure the aid of color helps, but I argue Billax looks BETTER today than '61.  Just excellent.

Lautner have mercy, cool pic, I like those swelled edges, rounded shoulder, old sleevehead, two-button sleeve ... wonder though where that tie would have hit when he stood up? .....

Oliver - I have been on the hunt and have heard very padded things about the O'Connell's and Press cord coats.

Re: The Ivy League Style: The Boom Years.

yipes! thanks ox.

I've been eyeing a certain Pressidential sack that's currently on sale in a slightly off size (39 and half an inch large in the shoulders) and I was on the horn with the in-house tailor in DC earlier today who insists that he can cut it to size so that it fits identical to the Pressidential 38s with the same drape, no apparent taper or noticable difference... at no added cost! not a bad deal at 60% off.

Is it just the cords that suffer from stuffed shoulder construction syndrome? The suit forms that they use to display the jackets online don't exactly flatter the shoulders. I have to imagine those Pressidential sacks are softer and more natural than they appear on the website.

^

An entertaining read.  I found especially interesting the "no breast pocket" OCBD and the insistence on three button buttoning, not a 3/2 roll.

Great closing line:

“There was a time when no one would wear a tweed coat and gray flannels unless he knew he was SUPPOSED to wear a tweed coat and flannels. Now you can’t be sure whether he’s supposed to, or is just wearing them.”

HAHA!
