To be frank, I think it's dangerous to mess around with the house style. Even the best tailors have a signature and chances are anything you want is going to look like they made it and not how you pictured it.
Second, most of this stuff is in your head so get the house style.
I know you only wear upholstery weights but if you had done that Apparel Arts plate in say a super 120s 10oz, or even an 11-14oz herringbone tweed, mightve been better.
My tailor is close to retirement age. But I enjoy a great relationship with him. That's why I can get away with it. Also, by the time he is retired I might be able to make up my own garments (p.s. I am encouraging my GF to take up sewing again, and have unselfishly brought her a Bernina sewing machine to encourage her to take up dressmaking). My tailor is of the opinion that he's already made enough things for me and that it's time I left him to make things for others anyway. So the less of his time I take up for myself the better.
Also, when tailors reach an advanced level of skill they do not follow pattern making techniques from books, they have already developed their own methods. So bringing patterns drafted using tailoring book instructions might clash pretty badly with their tried and true cutting methods.
How many suits has he made for you Sator?
So what? He sees I'm having fun, and that I'm doing it to create cuts that would take him countless hours to do. He enjoys seeing my ideas and talks to me as like a colleague. We enjoys our chats too. Why you are so against it?
Also this "house style" business is total iGent nonsense. I find it being repeated ad nauseam on every forum. It is used as to create a false image of prestige by certain houses but really it is just laziness and about preferring to take a cookie cutter approach to things. This is what my tailor says and I agree with him totally.

Inane post? This whole thread is inane.. I mean, does anybody over 11 years old wear earmuffs?

I don't see anything wrong with Sator's approach if he is that dedicated to putting in the time and effort to achieve a particular type of garment. I think the unique ingredient that makes it work in his case is the relationship he has with his tailor. But this kind of experiment would not end well for most people.
Thesaurus Boy tries way too hard. Who knew competing for attention required so much effort?
