A half inch alteration to a jacket hem can make a large difference so 2" would be a lot to take off in relation to the position of the pockets IMO. But more power to you if you can make it work Oli as it' s a lovely jacket.
I look at the piping as more of a hepped up swelled edge for the sophisticated atomic era college tweedster. I bet if that slim lapel were set free to roll naturally to the center and then paired with some dark gabradine strides and heavy black gunboats, it'd hardly be noticeable. The pictures have it buttoned up like a square with a red christmas ribbon for a tie, so subtle it ain't. If you cool it down with the right clothes, the piping gets toned out and neutralized and you just see old muddy brass buttons. That's how I see it anyway.
I can definitely see some black leather football buttons looking sharp though... I'll probably do that!
Its a good shape but dont turn it into something it's not keep it swinging oddity is my advice at any price..youve got loads of nice jackets..keep this as a joker in the pack
You're right, I dig the lunar buttons and they're staying put! File this under Rock-A-Bye Baby Jerry Lewis ivy.
Nothing wrong with it, was just he way it has been shot looks very Austrian, as you say once you get it and release the top button, put it on with you black leather trousers and winkle pickers it'll look the nuts.

I have a plain tweed and a blazer in about that shade, one of the handiest colours for a jacket.
Just had a look at it with a selection of trousers and they all work with it, that's 3 different green jackets I have now, as you say incredibly versatile colour.
