There are 3 books by the TASCHEN Verlag:
40s, 50s and 60s...
AMAZING PICS! Some Ivy stuff, perfect for our Boom Years thread!
I got the 60s one from a friend, now, and another TASCHEN book, The Golden Age of Advertising- the 60s, but unfortunately, I don't have a scanner!
Anybody else with this stuff? Moose?
yep I have the 50s and 60s Taschen books
my wife has a couple Sears catalogs from the 40s, which was an amazing book when you look at it today. There was SO MUCH top gear in that catalog.
I totally forgot about these books...will have to scan some pages when I have time
Please do!
The one thing that best cuts through all the theories about all this stuff on the Net is the pictures from the actual times concerned.
Best -
From the 60s book: Alcohol and Tobacco and Fashion and Beauty... there's lots of great pics, you know what I#m talking about, Jason!
I have my books in a storage....i'll have to dig em out sometime and then I'll scan some pics
I've got my copies to hand, but no scanner sadly, great great little books though, which provide a nice insight, mostly womens-wear though.
Yes, there could have been more menswear, definitely... Nevertheless, a lot of freat ads!
I have the 1920s book, which has quite a few good menswear ads and lots of other good ads featuring men in formalwear and other great duds of that period. I looked at the 1930s one, which I thought would have been the very best for menswear ads, but there appeared to be a paucity of such images, so I passed on buying it.
