Our crew is huge.
Actually, whilst old Mick Talbot doesn't look too hot in this video and was often cruelly portrayed by trendy NME hacks as having a whiff of the porcine about his boat he is BY A MILE the much more sussed dresser. Both boys used to often shop in J.Simons. Weller, all nervous tics and edginess, invariably opted for the lariest thing in the shop : loafers with fringe, tassel, bows, alarms etc... Old Mick just went for classic button-downs and penny Weejuns and was an infinitely cooler individual. In fact their sleeve designer, Simon Halfon, was the best dressed of them all. Mick is at his Ivyest in the video for 'Wanted'. Weller did look sharp circa Paris Match 1983, but he was never Ivy. Now he just depresses me. Has he employed a 'stylist'? Have you seen the pictures that came with his latest album? Upset me they did. The decline of an old face. Never thought it would happen to Weller but it has.

The Style Council "Walls come tumbling down"
It was Paul's 50th in May....
Nice Style Council selection- Mr.hard
In my yoof I was a big Jam fan so when they disbanded I thought at the time the Style Council were a fairly watered down insipid version ( I didn`t have the nouse at the time to realise this was Paul weller - evolving and maturing musically- it would be 10 years and after the break up of the Style Council before I realised how good a band both lyrically and stylisticly they were)
Typical of me really- kind of keys in to my nostalgic personality-only really appreciative of things once there time has past and developed a sepia patina
