That's a great article.

I guess I'm wondering what kind of sneakers the "Take Ivy" boys would wear when going out for a jog. Maybe Chuck Taylors sufficed?

The New Balance trackster was already available then but how many would own a pair I've no idea....

Most of the NB trainers are pretty ugly IMHO due to outlandish design, material etc  those ^ however are kept simple and will work I think. I like them a lot better than those Nikes if I'm being completely honest, but that aside. Simplicity does it as per usual and the classic designs need little improvement, if at all. Every now and then a new 'classic' is added to the list of course so it's a case of ( very rarely ) hit and ( mostly ) miss I suppose.
