The M&S Dessies are on sale at £25.....from India but appear to be reasonably well made.....not too bad at that price......instore I saw sizes that are not available on line.

A slight word of warning about the M&S Dessies. The uppers were great and kept their shape well, but the soles were flimsy and wore through really quickly.

I have a pair of Alden All Weather Walkers and they seem to be wearing well. They have them heavily discounted at the Steven Alan shop on Hillhurst in Los Feliz btw........

As Weejun said, they were very low on stock as someone had been in and bought much of it, I tried a pair in my size, but had to size up, and he apologised for not having the brown, "we only got this colour left in that size mate" , so i was pretty chuffed to be handed a snuff pair! The shop is pretty chaotic so i didn't see what stock they had.
Dunno if it's poor form to talk about the price, but as I live near, I can see what stock they have next time I pass. Problem is, they don't open until about lunch time, and I work in the west end, so would have to make a lunch time visit or leave early as they close at 5:30!!

If the shop you're talking about is the shop I think, I was there on Sunday and spoke to them. They said they should be getting more in on Thursday, but can't be sure because the factory may well be on holiday. Anyway, I'll nip down early that day and report back!

viewed hush puppies desert boots today. nice from a distance, up close similar to lands end and chinese made for 120 bucks.

I also went to Blackmans on Friday, very limited sizes and colours. They did have the Joel but unfortunatley not in my size. He said they weren't getting any more stock in. Whether this is true or not I don't live in London so I went to John Rushton and got the snuff Joel.
