^^good stuff.  Speaking of "Another Country," there was that early 80's film as well.

Is it me, or is Philby smirking when he makes his denial...?

^ I'd also recommend that too. He draws heavily on that whole 'Another Country' / 'A Question of Attribution' thing, but he's fun.

The voice he uses entertains.

Re: Spies Like Us: Sir Anthony Blunt -

Oh yes, a real 'Olde Englishe' shit hole. Very 70's to my mind, but being Cambridge that means it was probably a 90's place.

Nasty food & stale beer.

Oxford was better, but not much.

I'm told St. Andrews is nice & not nearly so contrived to catch the tourist trade. Never been invited so I can't say.

When in Oxford last Saturday with J.J. I took him to meet an Old Pal in Oriel - It's only a short stagger from The Old Bank / Quod - He found the place quite disgusting & rightly so.

I've yet to take him to Exeter...

Re: Spies Like Us: Sir Anthony Blunt -

All the Brit Trotskyites became spies. All the American ones became neocons. I think England got the better deal.
What was that film called "An Englishman Abroad"? It had a big tailoring scene: "Madam: From Maidenhead to Moscow, In this shop 'Mum' is always the Word". Alan Bennet? John Schlessiinger?  Can that possibly be right?

Not Kim Philby, the other one. The one who interviewed Churchill for ther BBC. I'll remember the name tomorrow.
