I was at a Brooks Bros. outlet shop today and saw these really interesting cashmere sweaters. They had 3-ply plain weaves and thicker, braided 4-plies, crew and V-necks, for $100 down from $300. The labels read "Ïtalian cashmere, knitted in Scotland". I got myself a rust V-neck plain weave and the sweater feels great, better than anything from BR or J crew. Made by Ballantyne, perhaps? Check this out...

^ i want my Brooks back too...
Life is ladders - LP sleeves to Van Heusens, Van Heusens to Hathaways, Hathaways to Troy at J. Simons, J. Simons to Brooks, Brooks to Press... And now I sit here in a Vintage Chipp sack from god-bless-him Chris_H...
... And I rushed all the steps too, being young. Shoulda lingered more at the 346, shoulda lingered more at J.S. come to that...
These are probably the best cashmere made in the world. Not Ballentyne. The mill is the same they have ordered for 100 years (someone knows the obscure name). Fashioned in Italy is a new developement but seems OK.
My understanding is that the cashmere in question is pretty close to garbage that feels good new, and that it pills extremely quickly.
^ Jesus, I find this picture very, disturbing..
Yes, they are thick. Yes, they are the best in the world, bar none. far better than those costing far more.
