Re: Andy Gilchrist in Esquire

Kind of a shame, really. Seems like an awfully nice guy that tries hard, and always has a pleasant, friendly outlook. Have never met the gentleman, but Capt Preppy has, and gives him high marks. Good enough for me.

That being said, it is too bad to see an "expert" putting out an article like this. Most of his clothing experience seems to have come from clerking in a RL outlet store.

The grotesque turquoise ring is unfortunate, also a person that doesn't seem to understand that referring to to his "wealth", is rather poor form.

In this part of the world, almost all of those that work in retail stores (BB, JP, etc have the obvious exceptions) don't have English as a first language, and don't have a second language. Getting something that you picked out through the process of being paid for, is a significant challenge.

We'll never know, but it is hard to understand how one can come under the influence of Chuck Franke, AK. etc. I guess it is possible to be too much of a nice guy. (I can't speak from personal experience). Franke designed the AA club tie, took money for orders, and then stiffed the customers. AG was a nice enough guy to make these guys whole, after their money went south.

Franke seemed like the Bernard Madoff of the tie business. Even after there were posting fire storms from guys that were stiffed, he continued to come up with posts like "Don't worry, the puppies are doing fine, and Jill and I are having fun. BTW, I play polo."

God only knows what kind of an evil hold AK has on the guy. We'll never know. Inner circle like Cruiser, and Howard will probably never talk.

BTW, if you are looking for superb T shirts, I learned from RS about the Hanes beefy Ts. Fantastic for about $4 ea from a number of net vendors. Just Google Hanes Beefy T shirts, if you have an interest. Good chance that none of these vendors have margins that are high enough to pay a royalty to an internet site for referrals.
