He's definitely not an Ivy guy, that's for sure... and Acid Jazz, well, it's not really Jazz necessarily, is it? When he's djing at Mod related events, it's always "DaDooRonRon" etc.... He's not one of those tight arse mods, though.
Haven't even checked that clip, I have to admit... My sound system/ pc connection didn't work, but it's fixed, now... Will check the clip later, no youtube at work!
Was it that awful?

Cool, never seen that footage before. Joe Pass has been described as the Charlie Parker of the guitar. Continuing with the guitar:

Couldn't be further from Ivy, but I've spent the day enjoying the pogues whilst enjoying a few guinesses.
Sometimes things are just good.
I'm not sure there is an "Ivy" music, though a lot of us are obviously pretty extreme jazz fans. I play with two different bands. One is jazz, and one is heavily influenced by Black Sabbath and marijuana. I think a lot of us here have pretty diverse interests outside of the Ivy clothes thing. .
This is one me favs from The Pogues, The Boys from The County Hell:

Great lyrics, especially the bit that ends "my brother earned his medals at MyLai in Vietnam."
Continuing with the Irish music and great, great lyrics:

Original Dubliners with Luke and Ronnie had the definitive Spancil Hill. I drove through Spancill Hill once just because of the song. There is not much to it. Drove up through Tulla because of the famous ceili band.
Return to Camden Festival was on at the end of October some great Irish music.
I have seen the Pogues a couple of times in their Christmas concerts in Brixton but I would not go every year.
^And you too, RS.
Kingstonian: I saw the Dubliners in Liverpool with Paddy Reilly back in the mid-90's. And there was a recovering alcoholic violinist who joined them on stage, who I had met two weeks before as he had been playing in an Irish bar in Chester. I got chatting to him and he played some requests, he was with his son who told us his dad was recovering from the demon drink - he looked like Bukowski. He mentioned he was a friend of The Dubliners, didn't expect to see him playing with them a few weeks later. Its a small world.
This one goes out to Chenners:

The Divine Comedy - A Lady of a Certain Age

I came to this a bit late, but reading back I see there is a little chit-chat about Eddie Piller. Can I just say that he is a complete and utter wanker? Thank you.
GG
Most people say that you do have to catch him in the right mood.
From what I heard, now, I don't think that I'd like to talk to him, whatever mood he is in. The only thing I give him credit for is bringing back Terry Callier... That's why I thought that clip might be any good. Still haven't checked it yet... So I don't know.
Not a big Acid Jazz fan in general. Some of the stuff is okay, some is quite alright, but there's a lot of boring crap, and most of it is just hype. Jazz exploitation, not the real thing...
Acid Jazz, before there was such a thing:

Lou Donaldson - Alligator Boogaloo.
Here's a tune you might remember:

The Associates - Party Fears Two.
The Divine Comedy do a fine version, but I couldn't find it on You Tube.
