erm... OK!
I hate a lot of JPress stuff, too... but they still have a lot of good stuff, I think... not necessarily the expensive Pressidential line (that Russell Street posted in the Back to the Sack thread) , but also the cheap stuff, like unconstructed outdoors jackets... maybe the quality went way downhill in this section, from their earlier years... but the design is often good or better... at least for the shoulder line.... I dunno, about the old J.Press not a specialist myself, just an enthusiast and here to learn, but that's my personal opinion...
I can't afford tthe Pressidential line, and if I could I would rather invest in good MTM...
IMO nowadays Press is better for Jackets and ties, and Brooks is better for pants and of course shirts....

I bet in a lot of ways old Dens is oblivious to Mr. Man. Until recently, I've never seen the guy without the flap pocket shirt.
He's no CD but he's got a certain style -- it's almost absurd to say something like this but given how awkwardly the fora denizens wear their gear, I'll say it: he wears his clothes like a natural. He's completely at home in the style.

If these guys ever took the five seconds needed to look at period photos, they might notice that jackets were always padded in the shoulders, often quite heavily. The unpadded, unlined business suit never existed.
Funny how 'ethnocentric' the US has become (always was?). It's always just below the surface, waiting to bubble up.
