Re: Our Shared Ivy Heritage -

'Golden Age' stuff that's worth re-reading if only for The Weejun's practicalties.

Re: Our Shared Ivy Heritage -

Elsewhere, JFM quotes the late Jeff G on 'our culture'.  He goes on to define certain aspects of it in that rather scholarly, non-piss taking way he sometimes had and deployed.  Very 'London' I'd say.  Very 'smallish part of Jewish London with a few gentiles on board'.  'Our culture'.  With Jeff, still waters ran deep.  Yet he once recommended that I take my family to the 'Honest Sausage' in Regents Park.

Re: Our Shared Ivy Heritage -

I was amused to see Frosty describe our Gibson as 'working class'.  As a left-leaning, ex-public schoolboy, he would have found romance and virtue in equal quantities in that notion.  As with all that Kim Philby schtick.  The next middle-class berk who tells me how wonderful it must have been to have been brought up in a draughty house without a bathroom, I'll shove their head down the crapper.
