Paris is expensive for us Brits now. What used to seem reasonable prices are steep when a pound is the same value as a euro.
Parisian males did not seem well dressed. Everyone was in black or dark grey. I saw a few people with reasonable coats and that was about it.
I was there for a couple of days after a business trip and visited areas of the city I missed the last time. I looked in a few shops - 'Old England'( Hackett rebranded) and Brooks Brothers. Both had shocking prices. Shoe shops were also expensive for what was on offer. Bowen , Berluti, Weston did not appeal. Bexley had a couple of reasonable models provided you like black.
Meals were expensive; even coffee and supermarket items. Metro is the only bargain in the place.
Got the gypsy scam twice on the Rue Saint Honore in the space of a few hundred yards. Gold colour ring found on the pavement behind you, scammer presses it on you and then tries to tap you up for a money. Paris is plagued with gypsies and beggars. Virtually every Metro journey features a musician, or hard luck story in the carriage passing the hat round.
Still a great city though.
