Uncle Ian did your mates have the same suits? What year did you buy yours?
No - I was the only person I knew who had one. I was still at school so '68/'69? It cost me so much I could hardly afford to go out anywhere, so I'd put it on and look at myself in the mirror! Haha! I do remember wearing it to the Monday night sessions at the Streatham Locarno though.
I've seen a number of American made, mostly Harris tweed jackets over the past couple of days, none 3/2 or even very interesting.
Tweed jackets are problematical in today’s air conditioned, globally warmed world especially in a maritime climate like that that the UK ‘enjoys’. They’re just too darn hot in a lot of situations and none more so than Harris Tweed.
When outside in the colder months, tweed can prove useful. I wouldn't sound its death knell quite yet.
Mainly because I love a good tweed sack. Those of a 50s and 60s vintage in particular, unsurprisingly.
I don't have many in my collection but I have a few that are phenomenal.
So Yuca do you move your tweed jackets and overcoats around S.America with you? Or are they stored in a hermetically sealed, temperature controlled, secure storage facility at a secret location somewhere in England?
He uses the same facility that Lennon stored his fur coats in.
Uncle Ian- Good to hear that there wasn't a mob of SW post code boys roaming around in American 3/2 jackets/suits laughing at my mob in our English style Prince of Wales check (blue or red overcheck) jackets/suits. Or maybe there was?

I have a lot of clothes here with me for various reasons, I also have a large CD collection and even a few albums and a 78". It was an absolute nightmare when I relocated from Colombia to Mexico. However the majority of my clothing, including all my tweeds, a few wool suits and overcoats and all my Shetlands, is at my mum's home. She has strict instructions to take everything out of the wardrobe and drawers on a regular basis and shake each item thoroughly.
I remember when I was in England a few years ago and I was working away from home for the summer. I came back to my flat of the time after 4 weeks and some moths had been feasting on my knitwear. Horrific.
Bugger. We once had a thread on moths. Bastards.
