I have a bunch of casual Neapolitan narrow cuff pants and what you mention is indeed a big drawback. I think that my English shoes look weird with them because they exacerbate their apparent sleekness and length. Only my blobby Eastern European shoes seem to look reasonably balanced. The cut is not the most comfortable to wear. Also, after I gained some muscle from biking and running, these trousers began to cling to my calves after standing up from a seated position and this has happened in the worst moments possible. Pretty annoying.
