I went through a (summertime) phase of wearing an absolutely plain white sneaker with Madras half sleeves and Levis.  Then I grew too old for the look.  My young, trendy A-Level students wear Green Flash.  I like 'em, but I wouldn't wear 'em.  American made Keds and Jack Purcell still have credibility, but beware any lurking skate connections.

Plainly spoken little feller, ain't he?  Well, Aussies have a reputation for that sort of thing.  I came across one in Rome a few years back.

He: "D'you spikka any English?"

Me:  "A bit.  Why?"

He:  "Bloody good.  I've been in Europe three weeks now and I'm sick to bloody death of it!" 

How many Yanks would dare be so open about it?

I keep going  back to those very cheap, white canvas lace ups with a shell toe reminiscent of primary school PE lessons. A classic, 'anonymous' style in my book. Pretty much disposable after a month or two of heavy wear. NOT ecologically sound or ethically sourced I know.

I have to agree with adam! White keds fit the bill nicely for me for tennis shoes. Always a time to wear them in summer (especially being younger). Minimal branding, good shape, all round nice shoe when on campus, for me anyway.

Another u-turn after the regeneration process (OTP into RR&P).  I'm into the All Stars and Purcell again.
