Still yawning and rubbing my eyes this a.m. - pre-coffee and orange juice - I bought a pair of Jack Purcell, dirty white, plain as a pikestaff for £15 post-free. Sold by an end-of-life hospice in South Lancashire. Having a wife still recovering from chemo after breast cancer I like to buy books, CDs, DVDs from charities like this whenever I can. I wouldn't swear that these are 'Made In The USA', though. Maybe a replacement for my very beaten-up old Sperry.
I bought a pair of Jack Purcell a couple of years ago from TK Maxx. Thought they were made in USA but just checking Made in China. Well made though.
Good to support local charities and hospices.
I'm guessing these will be Made In China. Pair I had years ago (used but still expensive) had 'Made In The USA' on the heel. I don't think these do. Some on Ebay claiming to be American made fetch several hundred pounds. Not sure I would necessarily have gone for these if the sale hadn't been for charity.
Contemplating getting a pair from Muji, very basic either in blue or white, (water repellent coating) only £19.95
^ Muji - excellent RG. So comfortable with proper insoles, no frills styling and they last well. I like to have a couple of pairs on the go to choose from, one that look respectable and one beaten up, grubby pair. I like them so much that I’m one step away from stopping people in the street to tell them about Muji sneakers.
As predicted: Chinese-made. But, yes, they do look pretty well made. I seem to remember the USA-made pair costing me a fair amount about ten years ago - and they were secondhand. Came from the US, though.
