Google search reveals not much except some info that Baskins was a clothes store in Joliet, Illinois. It's now called Mark Shale.
Our fine young Harpo tipped me off the other day over a grey Shaggy Dog. 13 bids so far on a secondhand jumper. Only two of them are mine, though.
Diolch yn fawr, ychan!
Must say the Brooks covert cloth suit is truly beautiful.
It's lovely, isn't it? Lucky old Harpo, having such a slender figure.
Still got to get those piss stains out though.
Dry-cleaning ought to do it. Perhaps Harpo hadn't thought of that.
Then again...
Congratulations on your latest acquisition.
^ Thanks to you for the heads-up Farrago.
Yes, it's pleasing to find unselfish co-operation between forum members.
Now Ebay are about to open a shop near Oxford Street. But no-one will be allowed to take anything away with them and there will be no tills. And I thought Subway were weird.
Yes, dry cleaning will eventually fuck-up your clothes - once or twice might be alright if absolutely required.
Sunlight (seriously), air, steam, stain remover/and or Fabreze where necessary, are the answers in the long term.
Dry-cleaning certainly messed up the lining of one of my Burberrys' macs. Nothing ominous to report otherwise, but I prefer handwashing anything I'm iffy about in Stergene. My wife ruined a nice cardie about twelve years ago by chucking it into the machine.
A few Mercer shirts are up on Ebay:

I started buying vintage on ebay this summer:
1 shirt - almost falling apart, I should have returned it
1 suit - advertised as one minor repair needed, actually numerous repairs required but too nice to return, however if all repairs had been mentioned the price would have been lower
1 coat - for some reason the sleeves were ridiculously short, returned successfully but I got stung by customs on this one when it arrived so it has cost me
1 shirt - advertised as new condition but has a tear on it, just messaged them requesting a refund
Am I unlucky, or is this normal?
Unlucky - I've never had a problem, and I've bought shedloads.....
I won a "sears fraternity prep" jacket a few weeks ago. Needs some altering in the sleeve department but otherwise a fun jacket. The fabric is similar to a pendleton shirt and it almost feels like one when worn, remarkably soft. Anyone else own this make?
