Re: Gitman Vintage

Can I have some answers to why I am banned please.

Or is this some ridiculous 'Coventry' scenario?

Re: Gitman Vintage

Confusingly my Dockers K-1s are not that Fedora Lounge stylee, but a 1950s one with no buckle back but some very nicely made featurettes. When I got some time I'll post some pics of the detailing which goes way beyond most modern chinos...

Indeed the style has always been moving on. So why pretend to be offering ye olde shirte?

... Well, I guess that sells to some.

Because we're all knights at the round table of Ivy?

Of course, all that crap on the Mercer webpage about being accosted by strangers in bars and pilots on aeroplanes who are bedazzled by such fine shirts and collars that take them back to the golden era of tradism is load of old tosh.  People on planes are too busy sleeping, getting pissed or reserving all pyschic energy in concentrating on keeping that mutha' in the air as it bounces through yet another belt of bad turbulance.

Re: Gitman Vintage

Despite my previous Gitman misgivings that is a nice shirt indeed. Mmm.

Re: Gitman Vintage

Gitman, like Hamilton (which also now has a heritage line) is a factory.  They produced the shirts for Thom Browne among others.  They make a nice shirt and will probably continue to do so long after the heritage craze blows over.  That being said, if I am going to pay 160 bucks for an oxford shirt, it damn well better be made to measure, not S, M, L.

I love the 3 button placket on that popover.

Re: Gitman Vintage

Ordered a Gitman Vintage OCBD in blue and white university stripe. Today it arrived with the mail. I must say that I was kind of underwhelmed. Nothing special with the fabric. Well, nothing wrong with it either, maybe I have unrealistic expectations?. The shirt, I found, had a weird fit, but that could just be my oddly shaped body. But the biggest WTF moment was when I noticed the contrast stitching on the bottom button hole. Why would you do something like that to a shirt? The collar was the only thing that I did like about the shirt. But the shirt will be going back to the vendor.

Is that a popped collar or are you just happy to see me?

I have to say the fit is not great. I got one cheap and find they are oddly narrow in the shoulder and have high cut arm holes. Not sure who they measured but I’m thinking it was an androgynous bean pole

Re: Gitman Vintage

I've had one of those Tom, but also one that fits me really well.

From what I can tell the difference seems to be that the ones with the more pronounced curve of the bottom hem have the high cut arm holes. They also aren't really long enough for the curve of the hem and consequently don't stay tucked in very well.
