I just had an old pair of Bass loafers resoled at Shoe Mart in Connecticut. The job was excellent and at about $60 for half soles and heels (that included shipping both ways), was a good value to me. Sure I could've taken them to one of the local guys, but Shoe Mart apparently has a lot of the old soles and fittings and even lasts, and they've been doing this for a long time. When you factor in time and convenience and a job well done, I think it's wise to go with them on certain jobs.
I'll throw up a pic in the "tattered trad" thread.
