That's a mad rug he's got there in that last pic. It reminds me of the wig that Joe Pesci's character wore in JFK.
Aye, I had one myself in my teens, though not as big as Rods. Rod is also famed for wearing chunky roll necks with a laggy band to keep the roll in just the right place.
Is he bald then, in real life?
When I look at The Stones, it's a field of one and it defies all laws of nature, as it is the drummer.
I stumbled across a photo of Paul Weller being used for a festival somewhere in Europe this summer, he looked bad, real bad like Phil Chevron of The Pogues before he succumbed to cancer. Weller's face reminded me of the old guys in the fab shops who use to chain smoke and thought 68 a good innings and who use to generally drop dead three months before or after retirement.
Ron Woods has that classic, wizened face of an old-fashioned 'Evening Standard' vendor who chain smokes Woodbines.
He looks like he is wearing a fright wig for a bet.
This is in danger of turning into a Vic Reeves routine, though Ronnie Woods does feature briefly

Have we discussed Frank Zappa's herringbone coat, 1969, in London, ca. "Hot Rats"?
Er, no. What about the 80s sartorial silhouette? Very distinctive. Even Feargal Sharkey looked good.
^Aye: next to an Elvis impersonator who's on the Sunday afternoon estate pub circuit, a very good mate of Tony Blair's from Tripoli and the local village idiot they accidentally picked-up having mistakenly included him in a round of drinks. All that's missing is Bono to show up and it would be official: Charlie hangs around with a right bunch of caaaa.......I mean, there would be enough for a quorum.
Love that stoic "more shit to put up with" look on his face. Stoicism and patience are key to making it through the daytime grind, I guess. I just wonder why he thinks he still has to. He really enjoys beating out the 4/4 on his tom-toms for these guys night after night?
I've always loved this moment in Gimme Shelter... Around 2:11 the camera fixes on Charlie and stays there while Charlie just stares back...

Anyway. I've always thought this was the only "real" song they ever wrote.
