Re: Seriously - Is there such a thing as Andyland 'Trad' ?

and that's the way we like it.  I love the troll pose - very early 1990s internet (I bet you cruised those usenet boards quite a bit).  And, I love your eagerness.  So interested in trolling a single person who was already a member of the forum.  Victory!

As an aside, you've completely misunderstood my "defense" of trad - I "defended" trad the same way I've defended "Talk Ivy" on other forums.

Re: Seriously - Is there such a thing as Andyland 'Trad' ?

Internet trolling always reminds me of a cyber-version of the classic pigeon drop scam, but without having to have a real accomplice.

But in this thread, Cards can declare Victory! and rightly so, as control of a process can count as a victory. Unless someone thinks that's against the rules and is willing to state what those rules are. wink

Re: Seriously - Is there such a thing as Andyland 'Trad' ?

... Not sure we've reached 'game over' yet...

I have asked if 'Trad' exists and so far the thread says Yes, but that it has no core definition and therefore no real existance as a thing in its own right (have I got that right?).

So 'Trad' seems more debunked than ever as a construct.

A made-up name for a made-up thing that has no real existance, yet has an internet sub-forum & spin-off blogs and thus iExists.

So 'Trad' exists online, but does it exist as a 'thing' (and that was my original question after all)?

How can a thing exist without a solid definition, but with a definition which is always changing & always at odds with its previous definition(s)?

How can Trad have any merit and be this way?

'Victory' still may be something to yearn for here...  wink

... And Cardi's control of the process is also still to be yearned for too  wink

"How can a thing without a nature be a thing?"

(/\ No bullshit, this actually comes from a Don...)

So -

What is the 'nature' of 'Trad'?  And if it has no 'nature'' then it has no 'essence' and so it is not a 'thing'.

... He said a lot more too, but I drifted off a bit...

wink

We are nothing,
We are 'Trads'
And we'll defend that,
To the last.
We have a mission,
(To be defined)
But while we're waiting,
is the Summer the Tradliest of times?

Just Jim's joke isn't he? Just like his troll defender & all the "Ask Andy About Loathing" "Trads" come to that.  Chenners is the biggest joke of all. Drops his "Dandy" empire building just because a well known troll convinces him to blog on something called "Ivy". What was he thinking?

I would describe it as 'Aspergers Meets Cloth'
