I like the look of the chinos from Silvermans. Has anyone seen a pair?
I like mixing my clothing stuff - having a mixture of stuff: casual and slightly more formal and smart.
I`ve got quite a few pairs of the low-rise , cheap Uniqlo chinos: in the old, discontinued, summerweight chalk colour and in the later, heavier cotton, mid- grey colour.I like them with Everest shetland sweaters, wigwam crew socks and suede brown original playboy shoes (J.Simons), or boots.
I like low-rise cotton chinos, and Levis 501 & 505 cotton cord jeans. I think they`re great for when you don`t feel like being `ON (ivy) DUTY`...; you know, just relaxing, informal, non-dressy, casual, stuff. Clothing that`s real, for real life and a real lifestyle...
I do, though, need to get some cheap, `natural rise`or, indeed, `higher rise` chinos. I like them with derby style jackets, though i prefer low rise chinos with peacoats.
I`d be interested to hear any feedback on the cheap US Wings chinos.
I don`t really like higher rise trousers in the summer, or in hotter weather, but mostly, during the winter months, i opt more for smarter -but not too formal- `natural rise trousers` (11.5 -12 inch rise): various Oliver Brown soft cotton cord 5 pocket jeans & charcoal grey, flat front Cavalry Twill trousers.
I`ve got O`Connells cord sacks, in Tan and Brown, and mostly wear them with the cotton cord jeans.(I got the cord jeans tapered slightly).
I`m not into the late 50`s ,very high rise thing, but liked McQueen`s look in Cincinatti Kid, where he wore high rise, Anglo- Ivy, single pleat, charcoal, flannel trousers with a `natural black` ( dark brown) Everest style shetland and olive green cord sack. I think it worked because it was so simple. It certainly didn`t need a button down shirt underneath as well).

Do we do Dockers? A mate is selling a few flat front pairs in my size. Should I get them?
Well. I walked right into that one sweetcheeks...
I don't know what the general consensus on here is, but I own a couple of pairs of D1's which I had tapered a bit and I think they're a very decent chino.
I had a pair, which I worn near every day for a year or so, including cycling in, and they were a decent chino. Tumble-dried them to get them to shrink up a bit, and they were good. Wish the rise was about an inch higher, though.
I'd look to get them cheap on ebay and like 12BB says, get them tapered in a bit, but they were a nice weight in a good British khaki colour.
I have two pairs of D1 slim vintage in spring moss and british khaki and find they are not nearly "slim" enough for my preferred fit. Had to have them tapered significantly and wasn't crazy with the end result. Not terrible, but far from the "perfect tapered high waisted flat fronted etc" from the header.
Said it before and I'll say it again. J.Press chinos. Perfect rise, perfect through the thigh. I had them tapered from 9 to 8.5" bottoms with 1.75" cuffs and now they are literally perfect. Great heavy twill without any faux distressing or washing.
I'm off to JS on Tuesday to check out how I fair with the hi-rise, failing that, I'll probably go to BB and go a size down on the Milano's and get the waist let out if I can. I liked the Milano's but felt they could be a touch higher in the rise, as well as be a bit more tailored, would go JPress but I don't believe they go anywhere near my size. Today I tried an old pair of Gant chinos I found in the stock room at work, they are called 'Preppy', and actually fitted in a very similar way to BB's Milano cuts but a higher rise.

except the plum grape colour they look good to me.
it's all in the eye of the beholder...
someone else might always make things work that you wouldn't know how to do yourself...
Russell Street talks about black chinos.
Never seen them.
I'd go for some black chinos. Very Melbourne.
I'm waiting on my 3 pairs of desert boots Roamers , around aud$40 each delivered. Different colours. That will make 4 suede chukkas or DBs. Only one pair of suede shoes. I need a nice black pair of suede shoes. Have to be just right though.
Black always needs to be softened by a bit of nap or nubby. In Melbourne it's black on black on black. Especially in winter.
