Been watching a lot of episodes of Get Smart lately and noticed Don "Agent 86" Adams, sporting a really smart looking camel hair jacket throughout much of season 3...
It's a beautifully tailored 4-button bum freezer sport coat, with 3 flap pockets, single vent, thin lapel, horn buttons, and cut in his usual continental-cool style.
I REALLY dig this look a lot! I would love to have one made up, but unfortunately can't afford a bespoke suiting right now.
Does anyone know of any quality OTR offerings like the above description, or any reliable fabric houses to source a jacket length from, if I decide to go that route?
Any other admirers of this look?

Here you go, poor youtube quality:

(with great character actor Percy Helton)
That's a great tie too... Smart's also always got the perfect tailored high-waisted strides!
It's really hard to find a perfectly tapered cut like that these days without going bespoke; I wish all my trousers looked that good!
Anyways, back to the cool camel hair!

Did you see the I Spy spoof in season 3. Pretty funny.
Yeah, I think so... is that the one where Max poses as the Masked Marvel and enters ping-pong tourneys with 99 to draw out a Russian spy, and the chief assigns some hip jive talkin' black cat as his new partner?
The third season of Get Smart is not only the pinnacle of the series, but may possibly be the greatest example of television sitcom period!
First rate and hilarious.
Love "Get Smart"
Mel Brookes at his best and Don Adams was perfect for the role.
It was a sad day when I learned Don Adams had passed.

Don't forget swingin' 99... what I wouldn't give to jump back 45 years. My first pre-teen crush and I'm still totally gone over her!
Barbara Feldon really sends me into orbit!!
Anyone know approx. how much a jacket length of 100% pure camel hair fabric from Harrison's would run?
The I Spy spoof is episode 25 called Die, Spy on You Tube. I can't post the linc but it's good. stu Gilliam plays the Cosby role and they have that improvisational rap that cosby and Culp did down pat. Robert Culp does a Cameo here also.
Yeah, that's the one with the table top tourney, hilarious!
There's another episode in the same season where Max gets framed for murder (by a one-armed man) that's an obvious parody of The Fugitive, with the Bill Conrad style narration and everything. Lt. Gerard is some guy named Gronski and though it ain't Rugolo, it's got a cool jazz score. Milton Berle also makes a cameo.

This old thread caught my attention at the same time I found myself swearing about a jacket on Ebay that's too small for me.
I once had a nice overcoat - it went in the purge of early 2013, I guess, when my usually tolerant wife insisted on a clear-out.
The only damn thing Ebay-wise is something that would make me look like George Sewell menacing some chick on TV circa 1974 and is therefore out of the running.
But I still think about that damn coat and how warm it was and how good it looked.
Said jacket on Ebay is by Lands End (USA-made, Mongolian, nice label) if anyone fancies a punt.
^ If I’m looking at the right one it looks pretty ropey on close examination. It’s rare to see a used Camel hair garment in good condition in that golden colour. They just don’t stand up well to regular wear and vintage stuff often looks grubby, threadbare or moth eaten. Even if you found a pristine example, I’m not sure how a camelhair sports jacket could be worn. One of those items that stand out as being very dated.
It looked to me to be full of character - so unlike much modern stuff we see floating around. The condition is probably reflected in the price as is (although not invariably) the case. I would wear a jacket like that with 501s or navy chinos and perhaps a blue Oxford.
That could look alright, come to think of it most things look alright with 501s and a blue button down.
Each time I think of doing something more advanced I recall JFMs phrase 'less baroque'.
I'll never look like Bruce Boyer.
I don't think many could wear a camel haired garment in this day and age.
Kingy maybe.
The said jacket is good, the Daks overcoat is not so good. Too football manager/wannabee gangster/market stall spiv/retired army type cadging free drinks in a movie scripted by Bryan Forbes circa 1964.
