Can Flannel ever be hip...?

Ole Formby here has come into ownership of a suit length of blue (not Navy) Flannel! It's a beautiful cloth, but I've no need for another 'slouchy' suit. So, the question is: Can Flannel ever be hip...? and, if so, how so...?

Of course flannel can be hip- just don't fall prey to the drapey, unstructured "gotta be like a sweater' crowd and it'd be very hip. Nip the waist and go DB. Dege has a look I like- very unlike the frumpy "college professor" look.

Re: Can Flannel ever be hip...?

If the coat is a slim cut, shortish, with colourfull lining then it can big super hip. Also important is the matching of the complete outfit (shirt, pocket square, shoes etc). Agree that patch pockets would liven things up.

Surely this depends on what kind of person you are Fromby. if you can pull off a slim, flamboyant line, then the above will be cool.

A bog standard, plain looking suit (like the one pictured above) will IMO just be dull in grey flannel.

Hope this helps smile

Re: Can Flannel ever be hip...?

In a recession, traditional and retro styles, start to come back in fashion. Britain's stores are full of military-influenced clothing. Waistcoats, after 25 years, are everywhere. Barbour is back too. We will soon see a return to the 1980s fashions - chalk striped suits, begal striped shirts, spotted ties, braces and brogues. Wine and champagne bars will be back in too.
