45 degree rotated fabric on shirts (and suits?)

All,

I have seen several shirts with fabric that was intentionally rotated 45 degrees.  Generally, they are fairly casual shirts, and the fabric is some kind of plaid, or gingham, or other check.

I have seen one man wearing a probably custom shirt, a dress / business shirt with a white-stripe-on-royal-blue fabric that was rotated 45 degrees.  The stripes on the left and right quarters were meeting in the center to form large V's or chevrons, I can't recall what the orientation was.  It was showy but well done.

What do you think of those shirts and do you think they can ever be worn with a suit?  Anyone has some?

Cheers,

JD

Re: 45 degree rotated fabric on shirts (and suits?)

I have one on order, a blue bengal stripe in twill*.

I first saw it worn by a guy at work which inspired me to get it. I plan on wearing it with suits (when I wear them, which isn't often enough admittedly), probably not one for interveiws unless your pretty certain of the type of office it is.

I think it could be one of the types of fabrics/patterns that really works with white collar & cuffs.

Probably not a good idea to wear striped ties with these shirts though. Bit too matchy-matchy.

Awful lot of pronouns in the post.

*I've really gone off poplin, its such a bugger to iron.
