There was a great London firm called Joseph Box, later taken over by Gundry & Co (they in turn taken over by Lobb in the 1950s) and some of their stitching ran at 20 stitches to the centimetre. remember: patent leather were popular once upon a time, patent never lasts of course as it cracks up with time, etc
