HARRIS' POST 169 !
If it ain't that, then it ain't 'Trad'.

Yeah, but I'm also a Troll (Just like Harris) & have said & will say many things.
You are meant to be Kosher - And if 'Trad' is your bag then it's all about Post 169. No?
Or are you actually nothing to do with 'Trad'?
- In jest, in sport, with love - This is a forum, to talk is the thing -
Yrs,
James Of London.
AND! As soon as you call it 'Trad' in the West post 2004 online you are linking yourself to Harris' trolling...
Ivy & Trad & Preppy are not the same.
Why do you cling to 'Trad'?
What's wrong?
Cardi - As a Southerner... You agree with Harris that you have no 'Trad'?
Surely?
Why do you capitalize trad?
What is your definition of a Southerner? Where I was born? Raised? Went to college? Had my first job? Second job?
What does it mean to call something Ivy when it's been a niche style for 30 years? Should we call the style on Talk Ivy "ivy" or "natural shoulder"?
Are the new offerings at J. Simons' shop "authentic" or "vintage" or "reproductions"? What does it all mean?
What does it mean to hold onto an old definition of trad? Just asking.
Am I getting the ivy spirit right? Would there be a contemporary ivy without preppy?
You are SUCH a sport to play along!
... ... ... ... ... ...
'Trad' is bunkum for the '04 (& counting) AAAC/T crowd. It suits that demographic & it works.
- But!
The 50s 'Ivy League style' was also bunkum, as was 80s 'Preppy'...
Nothing but marketing.
... A business I have some connection with...
So enjoy.
The real Tabasco is out there, but it isn't joining in with any of these online games.
Which isn't to say that all of this isn't fun.
... Did you ever join the Boy Scouts too?
Jim.
No, I wasn't perverse enough to join the boy scouts - soap box this, and whittling that, sounded strange to me - plus you have to march around under the hot sun like a British imperialist.
I did go to summer camp once - it was one of those places with the fake Native American names. Where do British Ivys "summer"? I imagine somewhere with a boardwalk and a pier.
No 'boadwalks' in Blighty - We have Proms.
And Ivy fans probably still go to the US on Viking raids like I used to. Now I go to Paris - The Ivy is better over there.
note to self: Camp iGent
I had forgotten about the Trad forum until reminded of it here. Ah, good times.
That's cause you're a preppy who learned trad through ivy. Still representin' the sack suit on SF?
