Last night I got to the end of my JP Melville boxset, it had been a bit of a let down that it did not include Le Samourai, but after finding it impossible to get hold of a copy of that film, and having the sparks of interest ignited about JP Melville, I shelled out on the boxset, without any knowledge of what to expect.
To cut to the chase, Le Cercle Rouge is a terrific heist film, with some very very pretty shots of Paris and the French countryside, but what really got me excited were the clothes, this film shows of the period of the 60's becoming the 70's beautifully, and although I only have a layman's knowledge of that period I'd really recommend it to anybody interested in that particular period.

Army of Shadow's another film by Melville also has a very good wardrobe of WW2 period dress.

I was a bit miffed at how hard it is to track down a copy. I'm not sure if it even got a release within the region I'm after. And imports seem to be going at £25 pounds. As Cercle Rouge is from around the same period expect the same quality style-wise.
