Re: On softenin' an' crumplin'

We'll see!  But, you know, one runs out of brilliant ideas.

I think, at least some of the time, NSB, ticking over is about all it's doing.

Re: On softenin' an' crumplin'

I'm not at all sure where the original Gibson Gardens (I'd always imagined it must be from the 'Toffeeman' days - I arrived too late for the allegedly fiery MM) post is tucked away (to be fair, he's probably forgotten himself), but for me it was an invaluable part of the Ivy curriculum, somewhat preceding my e-mail conversations with Patrick 'Paddy' Nahman.
So: the antithesis of 'sharp'.  I breathed s sigh of Ivy relief.  'Sharp' I never did well.  I was born to slouch.  I was probably slouching in the womb.  I was certainly well ahead of the game when it came to being crumpled.  I could give Walter Matthau a run for his money.
Anyway, some of Moose's comments above remain interesting.  And then, of course, there's that famous story about Mr. Strachan's raincoat...  I've never imitated Fred Astaire and smashed my new jacket against a hard surface.  Nor do I fail to give my loafers a rub over if they're dusty.  And catch me sandpapering a Brooks collar...  Yet all these things were discussed.
Might they be again?

Still looking for the original Gibson Gardens thread: so inspirational all those years ago.  The current chinos thread reminded me of it.
