Re: What are you drinking at the moment ?

Nah me , I hate the beach in summer, only winter. Xmas day it will be a BBQ for around 30 family at home here in backyard, with prawns, crayfish, lamb, salad, cold beer, red wine, and Hendricks. Under the very large pergola covered in grape leaves shielding the sun. Pergola is about 16 ft high and a 20 ft x 30 ft triangle connected to back house deck. Backyard is 500ft x 60ft and full of trees etc

Re: What are you drinking at the moment ?

I tracked down Hendricks at Dan Murphy's = $59

I am here to tell you it works well with Vermouth as a martini, very dry with a slice of baby cucumber.

It works as a G&T with a slice of cucumber or lemon

It works neat with an ice block and slice of cucumber.

Looks like a large old fashioned medicine bottle.

Tastes wonderful.

My doctor wrote me a prescription
For milk, cream and alcohol
My nerve was so bad
I couldn’t rest
I couldn’t sleep all at the night

I don't need no doctor - send my favourite nurse - I need milk, cream and alcohol

Re: What are you drinking at the moment ?

Last week it was Dutch beer. After the usual Amstel etc I got used to not drinking pints. Bock was a good choice.
Then found the superb schlenkerla ur bock. On investigation it is a German rauchbier. http://beeradvocate.com/beer/profile/263/1324

Back to Blighty. Straight off the train and into the Bree Louise for two not very good pints. The whole pub seemed to be watching some crap Welsh rugby game.

. “”This coffee falls into your stomach, and straightway there is a general commotion. Ideas begin to move like the battalions of the Grand Army of the battlefield, and the battle takes place. Things remembered arrive at full gallop, ensuing to the wind. The light cavalry of comparisons deliver a magnificent deploying charge, the artillery of logic hurry up with their train and ammunition, the shafts of with start up like sharpshooters. Similes arise, the paper is covered with ink; for the struggle commences and is concluded with torrents of black water, just as a battle with powder.”

Re: What are you drinking at the moment ?

Had Glenfarclas 17, 25, 30 & 40. Free tasting at the whisky shop near St Pauls.

Bought Black Bottle because I do not see it around too often. Then a couple of pints in Ye Olde Mitre and a pint in the Edgar Wallace. I am using up annual leave before the year end but I was in the office before the whisky tasting as I had a few things I needed to do.

Re: What are you drinking at the moment ?

I don't like Greene King at all. Bishop's Finger is too strong for a session. Sambrook's Wandle brewed in Battersea is my Young's replacement beer.

The Willoughby is my preferred Kingston boozer - a bit scruffy and sport orientated but Rick always has good ales on. The Masons Arms in Teddington is also a fine traditional pub - one of the best near us.

^ Never go in The Lion now. The Sussex Arms in Twickenham has lots of ales(18) all at the same price - £3. It is a bit far for me and often crowded.
