Two songs not by doo wop groups but about doo wop.

Re: American Graffiti

Anyone seen The Wanderers?  One of the many films made in the 70s and set in the 50s, definitely one of the better ones.  The book it's based on (Richard Price) is superb, Price was also one of the writers of the screenplay.

Re: American Graffiti

I  didn't care for it. How about "The Lords Of Flatbush". Pretty bad but some "faces" in it. One of Stallones first mvies, Henrey Winkler, Susan Blakely among others.

Re: American Graffiti

I seem to remember Big Wednesday was a quite a good film, similar era but about surfers - good soundtrack, as I recall? Any one else seen it?

Re: American Graffiti

Favorite soundtrack for me would be, I think, "The Big Chill".

How about "Diner" with the great Mickey Rourke.

Re: American Graffiti

"Diner" is great.  If I recall correctly Kevin Bacon sports a pretty nice blue blazer.

Re: American Graffiti

I love Big Wednesday and think I've posted about it and Milius on here previously.  A great film which inspired my own disastrous teenage attempts at surfing.  I put it on fairly regularly and get quite misty eyed.  My wife refers to it as the "boyfriendship film" ...

The trip to Mexico which ends in disillusionment always makes me think of the similar trip in OTR.  Interesting that none of the cast ever made anything else that was any good (excepting maybe Robert Englund and "V").

Someone told me that Vincent has had a liver transplant. Shame he's so fucked up.

Anyone remember the coming of age film 'Breaking Away'?

Re: American Graffiti

That was actually a serious question.

Thank you for your invitation, I would gladly accept however I fear travel costs may be prohibitive.  What part of the US do you live in?
