In keeping with my preference for cheap Italian plonk, Illuminati Riparosso Montepulciano d'Abruzzo. Started the evening off with a shot of Wiser's Deluxe rye.
We were served beer in one of these last night:-

I am not sure if it is a trend. If so, I will have to start saying 'in a straight glass please' again.
Had a lot of pints in the old days in those mugs.
Tonight, Sister's Run '09 shiraz
A protein shake made with Wheybolic protein mix, almond milk, and fruit. I don't drink alcohol.
2009 Mon Pere Tasmanian shiraz. Spicy and quite a bit lighter and more complex than your average Aussie shiraz - kind of like a Lancia Zagato compared to a Monaro.
Moropio Amarone '06
Wells Banana Bread beer 5.2%. http://www.wellsandyoungs.co.uk/home/our-beers/ales/wells-banana-bread-beer
On special at Lidl. Not overpoweringly fruity.
Did a Glenfarclas tasting during the week 10 to 40 year old plus the cask strength 105 - a good evening. We had a couple of pints in Ye Olde Mitre to round off the evening.
2010 Longview "Blue Cow" chardy from the local bottle-o.
Distilled water. I have to make weight for a jiu jitsu tournament next weekend.
The other night had a very nice cleanskin Shiraz from up around the Murray River = Murray Valley Shiraz 2009= $8
"Sourced from a family run winery who is the 10th largest exporter in the country. Simply this easy drinking style of Shiraz just does it job. Great fruit on the palate, nice depth and a good drink. It is not trying to be a award winning wine, it just drinks well."
As good as any $30 I've had.
Now I'm back on the old Lapsang Souchong - I find it never lets me down.
Yesterday was Yorkshire beer festival at The Bricklayers in Putney.
Took a half day off work and stayed chatting till closing time.

Landlady used to stock the whole Timothy Taylor range but too many barrels went back for quality reasons. She offered to collect the barrels direct from the brewery but they were not interested. So they lost a flagship pub in London.
