Re: The Plain Grey 100 Per Cent Cotton Sweatshirt

I'm thinking of getting a Pike Brothers sweatshirt, about the same price as the LE shirt, but a nicer design.

If anyone wears a size XS Uniqlo sweatshirt, I've got a Japanese loopwheeled Real McCoy's up for grabs, natural white, £25 incl. delivery to the UK (and EU). I'll post it in the sales thread with pictures and measurements once I get the time. It used to be close-fitting, now it's just impossible. Worn only a few times, virtually new.

Re: The Plain Grey 100 Per Cent Cotton Sweatshirt

Just in time for this thread, Lands' End has come out with its new, patriotic line of made in the USA garments, including this sweat shirt:

The pricing is a bit steep, though.

Another option - am considering it for a hoodie to go to the gym:

Re: The Plain Grey 100 Per Cent Cotton Sweatshirt

I'm quite happy with everything I got via Land's End Sale (regular prices are normally too high for Asian made stuff) - white T-shirts are very fine, even the silk T-shirt I got is pretty well made and cut. I can imagine the US-made cotton sweat-shirt is very good, too. And it seems to be avaliable at a reasonable price...

To me it looks quite fine! But who knows...

The Lands End sweat is a very well made shirt. Nice fabric too. I'm quite impressed. The only problem is,
with the one I have (large) you need the arms of an orangutan to really carry it off.

This can be interesting, too:

Dunno anything about them, was looking (via Google) after chambray shirts...

Nothing seems to change.  Only now, in addition to the other demands, I need a v-neck.  Still won't accept poly/cotton.

Community Clothing Co for the sweatshirt, Johnstons of Elgin for the V-neck.

‘ Community Clothing Co for the sweatshirt’

Nice looking sweat with the all important criss cross stitching at the neck. I’ve also been looking at their knitwear, plain crew necks, v-necks and cardis in made in Scotland lambswool, could be a good substitute for M&S which has gone to ratshit.

I've a couple of the sweat-shirts, they're bang-on. Really nice heavy cloth, superbly well made and all the right details, how they're managing to flog 'em for 40 quid I don't know. Can't speak for any of the knit-wear but if they're anything like the sweat-shirt, it'll be good stuff.

Community Clothing - mentioned elsewhere I think by AUS - sound interesting.  I'd vaguely thought about Camber but really need a v-neck.

Re: The Plain Grey 100 Per Cent Cotton Sweatshirt

I liked their 'relaxed fit' chinos but something about the Community Clothing sweatshirts didn't sit well with me and I had to send back.  I have some buzz rickson sweatshirts for Sunday best and uniqlo for around the flat.  Buzz Rickson come off cheap when compared to the other Japanese offerings.

Re: The Plain Grey 100 Per Cent Cotton Sweatshirt

I'm beginning to think 'stone' or 'sand' instead of grey, but am finding the same basic problems: the v-neck and the material.  I guess I'll take poly/cotton - but only just - over 'Made In China', but I'm really with Yuca on my general aversion to unnatural fibres or mixes.
Odd - I bought a 'vintage' nylon roll-neck sweater in a local charity shop about a dozen years ago, when I was selling on Ebay, and it went without any trouble.  Now, nylon I could not wear.  And didn't someone mention that Camber have a touch of something in the collar?
PPT - do you mind my asking the cost of a Rickson sweat?

Re: The Plain Grey 100 Per Cent Cotton Sweatshirt

My gateway was a grey one on sale for £89 at Peggs&Son, have since purchased a sand one from American classics where they're £129.  They fit me better than the Real McCoys ones I tried on at the Covent Garden shop, which were very short in body and tight in all wrong places.  Only critique of the Buzz Ricksons is that the neck hold is a bit more oval than round.  Sizing a bit inconsistent too, I guess due to this much balyhooed Japanese craftsmanship.
