A great city - lots of character, plenty to see and do in a compact area and good inexpensive food and drink, though you need a dictionary to know what is on the menu.

Nothing opens til 10am, but they are still busy in restaurants at 4 in the afternoon. Meal times that only happen at Christmas in the UK. Even then we do not sit down to dinner in the late night.

Train journeys require your luggage to be passed through an airport-style scanner though there is no personal scanning. You could be carrying all sorts of bombs and arms. Probably a reaction to the big bomb at Atocha rail station.
