Re: 'Beater Ivy'

It's very simple: New is vulgar.

Clothes have to be worn in, lived in, comfortable. It's not about holes.

Well dressed Italians know about this, just as much as well-dressed Brits or well-dressed Americans.

It's nothing to do with Ivy. It's just about style.

66, you are a Master Beater. I'm wearing my Sportocasins today. They're brilliant, aren't they?

I know I'm hooked, I want a third pair. I just polished the ones on the left, I think I'll leave the beaters be.

Beater Ivy... Definitely my esthetic.  Nice to finally put a name to it.

Re: 'Beater Ivy'

I'm still doing this: more now than before.
I bought a pair of Sedgefield khakis from the USA.  They seem not unlike sta-prest and retained their sharp crease even after washing.  If they fail to soften they won't be worn.  I've just junked a Gant poplin shirt because it wouldn't soften.  You could almost hear it crackle.  Wasn't The Weejun a little critical of the old Burberrys' coat because it was too unyielding around his torso and thighs?
The Scottish-made L.L.Bean cardigan I'm wearing as I type this is full of holes and darned patches.  But I'm buggered if I'll throw it out.
In fact, I've come to dislike 'best'.  Too much like 'Sunday afternoon-visiting relatives' or 'going to a function' shit.
