One for the Talk Ivy hive mind - can anyone recommend a good supplier, preferably online, of leather belts. The ideal would be a narrow all leather belt in dark brown or burgundy, with a horseshoe buckle......... Not much of an ask, I know.
All the High Street stuff I've looked at is unaloyed shite.

Here's Henrys thread from a number of months back. Some good tips here.
I have to admit, i still don't have any belts I'm really happy with so I'd love to be turned onto a supplier who fits the same criteria you mention Harpo.
Any nicely put together belts I have or see in shops I feel are too wide now and just don't look quite right with vintage trousers.

Don't know if this is what your after Harpo, but they make lovely stuff.
Harpo, here's a link to the horseshoe buckle they currently do

I have been thinking about getting a new leather belt for ages... I think, when I am going to buy one, it will be one of the equus-chap which is mentioned in the thread that Laim re-posted. Just not sure about the buckles. He (the belt-guy, not Liam) made some posts on here a while ago.
For surcingle belts, I have Eliza B./ leatherman on my list. Apparantly you can have them made with a more "traditional" buckle. I think it was on one of the few occaisons I trawled AAAC that these belts were discussed.

The Camden Market guy has been mentioned before... well his stall (and it's recent absence) has. One of the Moddy lot (Tom?) held his belts in high regard I seem to remember.
I just picked up one in the same oxblood and another in brown with a gold horseshoe buckle. 30mm sounds like a good width and UK made too. That's a bloody good tip. Thanks Walker.
I have just nabbed one in Oxblood too ,cant go wrong for a tenner cheers Walker.
I have bought from this local shop a few times and been very satisfied. They have a range of good quality ready made belts or will make them up to your spec including horshoe buckles. The quality is excellent.

This is my most worn belt, not horshoe but there's just something about I really like:

They do mail order of course.

Equus, as recommended above.
Last Christmas I also - confession alert - bought a couple of surcingle belts in the Jack Wills sale, which are ok as long as you don't look too closely and spot the embossed turkey logo.
Some great value belts on this, beats forking out 80-100 Euros for a 'named' belt.
Good job that Harpo started this thread!
does anyone have a belt from jasper highet?
they list two shades of brown (natural brown and light oak), but there aren't any pictures that show what they look like.
Bump
As i am looking for a reasonably priced brown Horsehoe 30mm
unfotunatley the Camden beltman seems to have shut up shop.
I'm also belt hunting along similar lines, if anyone can help
As am I, both black and brown - thin leather strap with understated brass horseshoe buckle. I've been searching the online vintage markets for months to no avail.
I contacted the Camdenbeltman via his E bay account and he has just replied to me.
He no longer sells on e bay but says he could fix me up via e mail.
I will report back. I have two of his belts and for the price they are good value.
Is there such a thing as the archetypal "Ivy" belt buckle?
I've seen lots of mention on here of horseshoe buckles and was wondering if people are using this term synonymously for the D-ring type buckles like these:
http://www.equusleather.co.uk/index.php/Belts/London-Dee-Bridle-Leather-Belt/flypage.tpl.html
or if they really mean lookalike (country and western-style) horseshoe buckles like these:
http://www.equusleather.co.uk/index.php/Belts/Horseshoe-Bridle-Leather-Belt/flypage.tpl.html
I've seen plenty of boom years photos of people sporting a D-ring buckle belt but never a true horseshoe buckle belt.
Are there any other buckle styles which stand out as being particularly Ivy? I've heard it said so often on here that it's the little details that count
Cotton belts - any recommendations? (Summer will arrive one day, I trust.)
Worth a look on the Stuarts site as well (a few designs at £25)
