While we're on the subject of Allen Edmonds, Shooey, maybe you can help me solve a mystery.
I recently inherited a bunch of shoos from a relative of mine. Pretty standard fare, some AE wingtips, two pairs of Florsheims, one brown and one brown suede (!), and the mystery pair. They're very dark brown, almost black with a lighter brown top, soft as sin, built like a boat shoe with the lace running around the top, but with a kiltie and a tassel. The insoles are marked Allen Edmonds Nantucket, but the AE website shows Nantuckets as being a standard boat shoe.
They look sort of like these...

...but much darker and the leather is smooth, not pebbled. Do you think they were just mis-marked, or is it some style that they don't offer anymore and they reused the name on something else?
Also, what do you think of shoos like this? Any good? I'm not really a loafer guy, but these things feel like heaven on my feet. Softest leather I've ever felt.
