I test drove a mate's last week - the manual version, I didn't exprience any problems and can turn on six pence. The more expensive 1.3 automatic gets a bad write up in reviews.

Yes. Love to see the pic. I love the Ghias Boatshoe. I recall a cute girl I used to occasionally see zipping around my old neighborhood in a Ghia, years ago. I always hoped I'd see her at the gas station or the store, so I could strike up a conversation, but she was elusive. I'd only hear the distinct VW sound coming and then she'd be out of sight.
I'll try and get a snap of it this week. Probably need to take her for a spin and blow out the funk. Or at least charge the batteries, he never uses the damn thing.
Nice BMW. Even ugly cars can be good cars, as long as they have character. The mass rollout of most cars now all look the same, and quite costly at that...it is like buying chinese made clothing from departments stores.
These days the slaves all dress the same and drive the same cars.
Mrs. Worried man drives a 1993 Volvo 240. Wait, maybe it's an '89. Either way, I think it's a very good car. No performance, but solid construction and reliable. I probably see more old 240s around here than any other car of that age. Tons of people still using them as daily drivers. I see old Hondas and Toyotas frequently, but still more 240s.
So get this - her 240 wouldn't start today when she tried to go to lunch. Sounds like a battery. I do remember looking at her battery and thinking "Damn, that thing looks really old." Fingers crossed that's the issue.
My old man's. Never gets driven much unfortunately.
Yep.
Yeah, I get on him about not driving it. I take it out every now and then.
Certainly a piece of history, last of the original Stingrays.
Oh man. That sure is nice doghouse. Cars like to be driven. I love that buttery yellow. I've got a color like that in mind for my pickup, when I get around to making it presentable.
You car guys should love this... http://www.curbsideclassic.com/ ...a website devoted (at least partially) to cars that are actually in use. Not many garage queens here, and lots of cool old advertising that helps us see why certain cars captured our attention when we were young. Don't forget to read the comments about the various articles; they usually have more info than the articles themselves.
