The First Five Years Of Talk Ivy -

Talk Ivy is five years old on July 6th. How will you celebrate ?

We're older than The Curriculum and Ivy-Style blog and many of all the other the spin-off blogs and we are in better shape than ever: On an upgraded server and with a proper moderating team now.

Quite the journey.

The Trad forum is two years older than us, but as it was what was to become the Talk Ivy team that made that forum happen in '06 I think we can comfortably claim ownership for most of what has happened online by our influence when it comes to classic American menswear online. Both for good and ill.

Our focus on T.I. is better than ever now too, IMVHO.

Trolling is a terrible thing... But just look at what you can achieve with it !  wink

Here's to the next five years !

- Enjoy !!!!

Best -

Jim.

I will be at my team's first pre-season friendly in Durham.

Contrary to lies of FNB and Woofboxer, I (and most of the other "Buff Bastards") have been banned from posting on this forum. There are only a few posters left so don't waste your time on here. This forum is dead and nobody cares.

He's back isn't he, spouting the usual self-aggrandising bollocks, starting and ending a thousand inane topics, sending genuine clothes freaks away with his various spurious agendas. Get the message Jimbo - you bore us, go to your little slot where you can talk about yourself. We do not see the world as you do. You are not our leader. You do not have a 'crew'. Typical public school boy that you are, you fetishise working class culture and completely misunderstand its workings, and the same could be said about your approach to Ivy League clothing. Once your manoeuvring was charming, then it became tedious, then aggressive and now its just off the dial weird. Go to your own zone and leave Ivy for the Ivyists!

That seems rather vitriolic and a tad harsh Pedro, whoever you may be.

I think five years in the here today, gone tomorrow world of the internet is worthy of comment.......

We've seen some right carry ons on here haven't we? Some great posters have come and gone, then come back again called something else, normally to stir the shit or grind their axe. Andy B, what a card he was!  Remember when I trolled him into selling his J Keydge jackets? ...laugh... I nearly bought my own beer.

Re: The First Five Years Of Talk Ivy -

Just checked  - If this was a five year wedding anniversary it would be our Wood anniversary.

Maybe that should inform our celebrations ?

Follow that impulse and you will be better dressed than anybody who follows the theory of clothing or any knee jerk reaction to clothing.

Re: The First Five Years Of Talk Ivy -

The lad would look a wee bit better with a nice high and tight, I dare say.  But that's just splitting.....

No.  The guy in the picture.  Talking about his hair.  If he had a nice "high and tight" haircut.  Or, short back and sides.  You know...   Then I was going on to say that I was just splitting hairs.  Bad joke.

Yeah, the guy in the High and Mighty thread.  Not you in your picture.  I like that pic of you though.  Good haircut too.  Your pants don't have to be at your nipples in order to look good, but of course that helps in my book.
